Faces of Tomorrow Recieves $10,000 Grant to Purchase Mobile Surgical Equipment

MassMutual Makes Grant to Honor Volunteer Efforts of Local Advisor

DAVIS, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 17, 2016) - Faces of Tomorrow, a not-for-profit organization providing medical treatment to an underserved population of children, youth and adults with cleft lips or cleft palates, has received a $10,000 grant from Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). Faces of Tomorrow is one of only seventeen organizations nationally to receive an award as part of a national Community Service Award (CSA) program. MassMutual made the grant as a tribute to the volunteer efforts of Christopher Nunn, financial advisor with MassMutual Northern California.

"Our Community Service Awards program aims to encourage and recognize those financial professionals who are active members of their community," said Alison Mathias, MassMutual's Director of Charitable Giving and Vice President of the President of the MassMutual Foundation. Christopher's volunteer work reflects our steadfast commitment to supporting organizations in the communities where MassMutual financial professionals live and work."

Christopher has dedicated countless hours of his time and talent to help the organization get established in the community, generate donations, and create fiscal stability. His passion and advocacy for the mission of Faces of Tomorrow was further ignited when he traveled with the organization to Bohol, Philippines in 2016. During the 10-day mission, the Faces of Tomorrow group treated 56 patients and performed 74 life-altering surgeries.

"I have seen first-hand the profound difference Faces of Tomorrow makes in the lives of children, who prior to surgical intervention are often shunned and won't even attend school," explained Christopher. "I am delighted to receive this recognition by the MassMutual, because it means giving hope, joy and a brighter future to the most deserving of children."

Faces of Tomorrow provides two medical missions per year for children around the world. Teams of compassionate surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, dentists, speech therapists, health educators, administrators, social workers and in-country volunteers help children and adults in desperate need of surgical services to repair their facial deformities. The organization's primary services are corrective surgeries, remedial and corrective dental prosthesis, speech analysis and remedial services to families and their children to improve speech difficulties as a result of their cleft lips or cleft palates.

The MassMutual grant will go towards the purchase of a portable anesthesia machine which will facilitate more efficient treatment and safer conditions for the patients and the medical volunteers.
